Sisters and Brothers,
I am writing to let you know I will be offering for CUPE National President at our convention in Vancouver.
Last week, on the heels of the surprising news that Brother Paul Moist would not be seeking re-election, it was my honour to receive the unanimous support of the CUPE Ontario Executive Board to run for the position of National President of CUPE. With a very short time to mount a campaign, the endorsements I have already received from locals and activists are gratifying.
I’m writing today to formally ask for the support of your local, and your delegates to our Vancouver convention. The election for National President will take place Wednesday morning, and every vote will count.
We have much to be proud of in the collective strength we have built in CUPE. In our changing world, we must make sure that strength is there, in a clear and meaningful way, on the frontlines, for our members in workplaces from coast to coast to coast.
To connect with my campaign please check out Fred for CUPE on Facebook. You can also follow me on Twitter @FredHahnCUPE and on Instagram with Fred4CUPE. The official hashtag for my campaign is #Fred4CUPE.
A website – Fred4CUPE.ca - will also be launched very soon, with more information, including details of my platform, what I want to achieve as your CUPE National President and how CUPE activists can get involved in this exciting campaign to chart the next chapter of our union's history.
I look forward to bringing the energy and experience I have to the job of National President – and I need your help and support to do it! Please don't hesitate to contact my campaign at [email protected].
With Solidarity and Thanks,
Fred Hahn
